Roundtable Discussion: Global Governance of AI

On 28th February 2025, Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) held a roundtable discussion on the global governance of AI, gathering policymakers, researchers, and AI experts. The session aimed to share knowledge on recent developments in global AI safety, discuss global AI governance from Malaysia’s perspective, and explore collaboration opportunities.

Participants highlighted the importance of integrated and ethical cooperation at all levels, including international, to effectively govern AI. They discussed the challenges of rapid AI development, the need to mitigate associated risks, and the importance of ensuring equitable benefits for society. Recognizing the complex landscape of global AI governance, shaped by geopolitics and diverse digital readiness, Malaysia should establish strategic partnerships with countries with aligned priorities.
