
Roundtable Discussion: Survey Development for Understanding the Experience and Socioeconomic Contributions of Night Markets in Kuala Lumpur (NEXUS) Study
On 16 July 2025, Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) convened a roundtable discussion with key stakeholders to obtain expert validation for the upcoming survey involving night market hawkers and consumers, which is part of the Understanding the Experience and Socioeconomic Contributions of Night Markets (NEXUS) study.
The roundtable discussion brought together representatives from the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), Nutrition Division and Food Safety and Quality Programme from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), TEKUN Nasional, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Training Institute (IDB), Pertubuhan Pengurusan Pasar Malam Kuala Lumpur (PMKL) and Gabungan Persatuan-Persatuan Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil Melayu Malaysia (GPPPKMM).
The session focused on reviewing the study instrument and identifying ways to enhance the survey fieldwork implementation and feasibility.
